  • Warsaw, May 15, 2012. – Kozminski University, for 13th time in a row, has been listed as the best non-public university in Poland in a ranking published today by “Perspektywy” magazine and “Rzeczpospolita” daily. Kozminski University has also been recognized as the most international university in Poland and as the best economic school In general listing of Polish universities, Kozminski University has reached 11th position, the highest ever by a non-public university in the rankings, compared to its 25th place in 2011. It is the first case in the history of higher education in Poland after 1989 when a private university surpassed its bigger public competitors and has been ranked at the top of its category of economic schools, in the most prestigious and established listings of “Perspektywy” magazine and “Rzeczpospolita” daily. - I am really glad that our university achieved such recognition, but most of all our students should be proud of it – said Professor Witold T. Bielecki, the rector of Kozminski University, who accepted the diploma accompanied by 7 students of different nationalities. – Currently, there are almost one thousand international students from 57 countries at our school, and internationalization index at our regular studies reaches 30 pct. Such a high level of international students and faculty is second to none in Poland, where even the biggest universities attract mostly domestic students. Kozminski University, established in 1993, since the very beginning has focused on reaching out to other countries. The school offers fully bi-lingual, Polish and English courses at all levels: undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral. It employs top Polish and international professors and lecturers. Kozminski University has earned the most prestigious international accreditations for business schools and belongs to an elite group of 53 universities from all over the world that have got so called “triple-crown accreditation” (AASCB, EQUIS and AMBA). The constantly growing role of Kozminski University in international educational markets is reflected by its positions in “Financial Times” rankings since 2009. According to Professor Andrzej K. Kozminski, the long-time Rector of KU and currently its President, today’s announcement by “Perspektywy” and “Rzeczpospolita” has brought additional reason for satisfaction. – I have always been a bit frustrated by dividing Polish universities into public and non-public categories, with an unspoken assumption that the latter are generally worse. In practice, all universities – regardless of their ownership – should be assessed based solely on merit and quality of their offerings – stated Professor Kozminski. This year’s jury of “Perspektywy” and “Rzeczpospolita” rankings, headed by Professor Michał Kleiber, chairman of Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), put more emphasis on internationalization of students and faculty. Kozminski University has been placed no 1 in this category. General ranking of Polish universities was won by Jagiellonian University, followed by Warsaw University, Adam Mickiewicz University, Warsaw Polytechnics, Wrocław Polytechnics, and AGH.
