Karlshochschule International University - Summer Academy on Intercultural Experience

In August 2012 Karlshochschule International University continues its Summer Academy on Intercultural Experience in cooperation with AFS Germany and InterCultur, offering complementary theory and practice units about intercultural topics. The following three tracks will be offered:

  • Intercultural Communication
  • Intercultural Teamwork
  • Intercultural Competence

We are happy to inform you that KIU is able to reserve a contingent of scholarships for students from partner universities. The aim is to support all qualified applicants with a full or partial scholarship, depending of course on the number of applications. Students can register for the full two-week program (30.07. – 10.08.2012) or for one week only. We encourage interested students to apply for a scholarship by registering Online by May 15, 2012.

Burgundy School of Business Summer Programme

Burgundy School of Business is very happy to inform you that about launching an exciting short-term programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation taking place on July 1-14, 2012 that will be taught entirely in English. We truly believe that this will be a relevant and interesting course for all business students at KU. 

The programme is made up of three components that are closely intertwined: entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity.

 

  •  a 2.5-day practical initiation to Entrepreneurship though the MIME© method (based on a global approach with a situation scenario)
  •  a one day lecture on innovation with case studies and 2 company visits
  • a 2-day art creativity seminar lead by a local artist where students will be able to implement the above elements

This programme is open to students who have studied or not Entrepreneurship so far and want to gain a thorough knowledge in that field.

IEDC – Bled School of Management

IEDC – Bled School of Management is glad to inform about an exciting international summer school – Discover Management Program (DMP).

DMP is an intensive summer school, organized at IEDC – Bled School of Management, Slovenia from July 10-18. It’s designed for young graduates and students in their final years of study who would like to take a journey through all major aspects of management practice before starting their professional career. No management or business background is required. The Program is led by Professor J.B. Kassarjian from Babson College, USA.

This year we prepared an exciting competition, DMP challenge, with grand prize - full scholarship for the Discover Management Program. The DMP challenge, which addresses the topic of Arts and Leadership, is a great opportunity for promising youth to show their creativity and enthusiasm, and win a scholarship for the DMP.


MSBE Summer School in Münster, Germany

Dear student,

The Münster School of Business and Economics (MSBE) has successfully organized a summer school for the past three years. Students who do not wish to study an entire semester abroad are given the opportunity to gain international experiences in a short-term stay. The program is conducted in cooperation with the U.S. American university Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

We are pleased to inform you that for the first time MSBE opens its program for international students from partner institutions.

The MSBE Summer School will be held from June 8th to July 6th, 2012.

Within the four weeks program students have the opportunity to participate in the
following courses and gain a maximum of 18 ECTS* credit points.

- PCs in Business (5 ECTS)
- Intermediate Financial Accounting (5 ECTS)
- Quantitative Methods (5 ECTS)
- Study Abroad (including Business & Intercultural Communication and German Language Course) (together 3 ECTS)

Furthermore University offers excursions to companies such as Mercedes Benz and to the shipyard of Meyer, all of which are themed “meet the CEO”. As a part of the intercultural program students will discover the university city of Münster and its region.

No costs will be incurred for the excursions and the intercultural program. Students are asked to organize their accommodation for the entire stay on their own. The team of the International Relations Center (IRC) will provide support and advice in all housing issues. Living expenses, accommodation and any transportation costs have to be covered by the students.

Students are free to go on weekend trips to neighboring metropolises, such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Cologne, Paris, and London.

The three-week programme that runs from 8 to 29 June will be offered by LEWI's research faculty who has strong research record and extensive teaching experience. Three courses that are both academically and culturally inspiring, namely,

1) Introduction to Culture and Health; 2) Protestant Christianity and Modern China; 3) Introduction to Chinese Society and Culture,

WFI Ingolstadt Summer School

WFI Ingolstadt is glad to inform about Summer School that will take place from July 9th to July 23rd 2012.

The main topic of WFI Summer School this year will be “Markets and Management in Europe” offering seven different courses. If enough students are interested, WFI will offer a German course for beginners.

Besides the courses the students will have the possibility to take part in social activities including excursions / trips to other parts of Bavaria, an evening program and barbecues.

We are glad to inform you that there’s a discount of 25% on the fees for the courses. The price for social activities is 120€ and the price for accommodation depends on the hotel. Please take note that there’s a limited number of rooms in a student hostel for 250€ including breakfast and dinner.

UGM Mexico 7th Summer Project approaching

The University of the Gulf of Mexico is pleased to invite KU students to its seventh International Summer Project, organized in Oaxaca City (Mexico) from July 13th until August 11th, 2012.

Oaxaca is the place to be for foreign students and is a mixture of the Zapotec (pre-Columbian) and colonial culture, recognized as world heritage by UNESCO and one of the most beautiful cities in the New World!

The project consists of cultural immersion (through family homestay and workshops in indigenous villages) and Spanish language learning. It is open to any student older than 20 having finished successfully at least one academic year at university or college.

ISTCE-IUL International Programme on Family Social Work and Social Policy

ISTCE is pleased to introduce you to ISCTE-IUL International Programme on Family Social Work and Social Policy.

This one year international master is running since 2008 and It is based on a partnership between ISCTE-IUL and European universities from Sweden, Norway and Italy. The study programme uses innovative approaches to prepare its students to deal with the problems and complexities of contemporary families.  The master focuses on family issues and children’s rights, migratory and globalisation processes associated with family, children rights, generations and migration, as well as research and social intervention methods. Strong attention is also devoted to international models in welfare systems, family policies and responses to the problems of different generations. The programme is based on the assumption that integrated approaches combining critical, multidisciplinary perspectives and taking account of experiences in different are enriching from the point of view of both theory and practice.

The students completing this course will have the competences they need for the design of public policies, social intervention and a broad understanding of the family as an active social system and a strategic research subject. Contact with highly qualified lecturers from different universities, a variety of teaching methods and students of different nationalities from Europe and other continents will provide an excellent learning opportunity offering appropriate preparation for research and employment in these areas in their own countries and abroad.

ISCTE-IUL offers two possibilities of attending the Programme:

1.       Attend the full Programme - The course lasts two semesters. The first semester takes place in Portugal and includes six statutory and optional units (30 ECTS). The second semester consists of a final report (30 ECTS), in which students conduct comparative research and are given the opportunity to stay at one of the partner universities. Students passing the units can also have their credits recognised so that they can enrol in a two year master programme in Family and Society, Social Work or Public Policies at the School of Sociology and Public Policies (ISCTE-IUL).

Final certificate issued by ISCTE-IUL. Fees: €2000.

 

2.       Attend part of the Programme as an International Exchange student – The student is nominated under a bilateral agreement by the host university as an international exchange student and attend some courses of the programme. ISCTE-IUL issues a Transcript of Records only with the grades of the subject attended. No paying fees. Bilateral Agreement established with ISCTE-IUL is mandatory (please confirm with your host university)

 

Applications are open from January 31st. The final deadline for applications will be announced later on at the website (normally August).

Rouen Business School Summer Program 2012

Rouen Business School would like to invite KU students to participate in International Summer School Program for 2012. This year the program will run from May 6 – June 17, 2012. The application deadline is April 1.

The International Summer School is an intensive 6-week program open to qualifi­ed undergraduates of all disciplines who wish to experience France and explore French culture. The program aims to develop cross-cultural skills and provide an in-depth understanding of European business practices with a focus on sustainability and ethics. Courses are worth 16 ECTS or 8 U.S. credit hours and, depending on home institution regulations, count as credits in International Business, Humanities or as general electives. The session is divided into 2 classes, each with several modules. The fi­rst class is called European Business and Ethics and the second is French Language and Culture.

European Business and Ethics includes modules on European Business Environment, Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics in Practice and EU History and Institutions.

French Language and Culture includes modules on French Civilization, French Language and Developing Cross-Cultural Competencies.

In addition, students participate in several workshops on French Culture and European history, including wine tastings, gastronomic meals and cooking classes. Excursions include visits to Paris and Versailles, Monet’s Garden and the impressionist museum in Giverny, as well as a tour of the Normandy landing beaches.

Finally, located one hour from Paris, the historic city of Rouen provides an excellent location from which to explore the rest of Europe.

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE REQUIRED

ESSCA Summer Programs

The Angers program begins in lovely Loire Valley city before going on to Brussels and Paris. It is suitable for students studying Business and with its emphasis on the EU, is also relevant to students of International Relations and Political Science. The 4-week Paris program, launched last year for the first time, is an undergraduate Business program offering two 45-hour modules, International Business and International Marketing and offers an excellent opportunity to discover Paris in the summer. And finally, centered in one of central Europe’s most beautiful cities, the Budapest program, with its company project-based approach, is best suited to graduate level students.

2012 Business in China Summer Programme

The Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in partnership with the Europe-China Strategic Alliance is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2012 Business in China Summer Programme.
 
The Business in China Summer Programme will be held in Shanghai from July 12th to August 24th  2012. This intensive six-week programme aims to help European students gain an insight into the world’s fastest-growing market, an eye-opening experience in one of the most developed Chinese cities and a deep understanding of Chinese culture  through courses at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, a month-long internship, as well as networking and cultural events. The programme is designed for all undergraduates, postgraduates, and MBA students passionate about emerging countries. Summer School - Jönköping International Business School

JIBS would like to offer KU students the possibility to participate in Summer Programme 2012.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in one of JIBS international courses taught entirely in English and focusing on the areas of Entrepreneurship, Logistics and Family Business. They will be able to obtain credits for the course as well as participate in social and cultural activities to discover and learn about Sweden and the Swedish culture. They will benefit from a term abroad during their summer break with the possibility to gain valuable international experience.

JIBS is a leading business school in Scandinavia with a special focus on entrepreneurship, business renewal and internationalisation. Main research areas are business administration, economics, commercial law and informatics.  The summer programme is taught in conjuction with the Center for Innovation Systems Entrepreneurship and Growth (CISEG), The Center of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (CeLS), The Centre for Evolving IT in Networked Organisations, The Institute of Foreign Law an the Center for Family Enterprise and Ownership (CeFEO). 


The courses that will be offered during the summer 2012 are:

KOC University Summer Programs 2012

KOC University would like to announce their comprehensive summer programs addressing international students from various subject areas and interest. Each summer course embodies a distinctive content and opportunities within its unique context.

“Doing Business in the Middle East & Turkey” * is a 3-week (17 June – 06 July) intensive summer program focusing on a blend of law-based and business-based discussions on entrepreneurial activity in this region. The program takes place in Istanbul through the collaboration of Koc University and Santa Clara University. It is open to both undergraduate and grad students.

 

Scholarships:

We are able to secure a 15% reduction on the cost of the program to the students coming from our partners.

The program comprises a combination of lectures, seminar discussions, site visits and field trip.

We will offer up to five $500 grants to help cover travel costs and some portion of the program fee.  The $500 grants will be assessed based on merit and need.

Based on a combination of merit and financial need, Koç University will be offering 2 full scholarships for the program, covering the entire program cost.

“Istanbul through the Ages” * is a 4-week program (02 – 26 July, 2012) taught in modules by leading Koc professors world renowned as Ottoman and Byzantine academicians at our facility in downtown Istanbul. The program is designed for graduate students who are interested in deepening their understanding of Istanbul and adding this value to their academic focus while having a taste of the city with over 12 million inhabitants representing a true melting pot of cultures and faiths.

“Introduction to Ottoman Epigraphy” * is a 2-week program (09 – 20 July, 2012) on Ottoman Epigraphy led by University of Chicago Professors. The program focuses on surveying the development of the Ottoman inscriptions from a chronological standpoint starting with the earliest examples in Anatolia. There will be field trip to Bursa to study inscriptions of critical historical importance in situ. The program is designed for grad students.

13th Ljubljana Summer School

We are very pleased to announce the 13th Ljubljana Summer School Take the Best from East and West that will take place from 9 to 27 July 2012 at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In frames of the Summer School students can gain ECTS credits and meet new friends from all over the world. 

Students are welcome to choose among several academically challenging and intellectually stimulating courses on bachelor and master level. HKUST's 1st International Summer Program

On behalf of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Ku is delighted to announce that HKUST’s first International Summer Program will be held from 18 June to 13 July, 2012.

The Summer School is for high calibre undergraduate students, normally in their first or second year of study who would like an academically rigorous experience on campus, here in the UK, following an accredited programme in either Creative Writing or Global Business.

Campus will be buzzing next summer as we host teams preparing for the Olympic Games- London 2012, an excellent time to be visiting the UK! A broad social programme will also be included, giving students the opportunity to  enjoy the best of British culture and heritage as well as meeting new friends from across the world.

Places will be strictly limited in this inaugural year and we expect demand to be high so we would recommend early applications.

Hull University Business School's 1st Annual Summer School

We are delighted to announce that between 9th and 21th August 2012, Hull University, Business School will be running its first Annual Summer School in International Management.

Please note: Students will be expected to book flights to arrive 7th or 8th August 2012 and depart on 22nd August 2012.

KU students will have the opportunity to take part in a varied academic programme based around the subject of International Management. This will be combined with a wonderfully unique social programme where your students will have the chance to go on a steam train ride, take part in a ghost walk, feast in the local delights of fish and chips and experience the culture of our quaint East Yorkshire atmosphere and beautiful countryside.

We are happy to advise that KU students can take part in this all-inclusive* programme for just £495(GBP). This fee will include:

 

·         Academic Programme (10 ECTS credits will be rewarded for successful completion)

·         Social Programme

·         Accommodation (which includes breakfast & evening meal)

·         Extra meals on social outings

·         Course completion ceremony at the end of the programme

If any students are interested it's advised to complete the attached application form and return this to Hull Business School by 1 May 2012. Further information including a detailed day by day itinerary will be provided upon successful application.

*Students will be required to purchase their own travel to and from the UK and any other miscellaneous costs, such as any additional meals etc.

EDHEC Summer School 2012 - "Globalizing Europe 2012"

KU is very pleased to anounce that EDHEC launches a new format of the EDHEC Summer School “Globalizing Europe 2012”

Studying Europe as it shifts from a continent of old nation states to an economic powerhouse at the forefront of technology, innovation, and sustainability allows participants to delve into a fascinating socio-economic past, present and future case study.

Unlike any other program on Europe, Globalizing Europe combines a hands-on business perspective with historical, cultural and economic analysis to take students on an intriguing journey through the spaces of European excellence and the global markets it serves.

EDHEC offers different accommodation solutions in Lille and in Nice which will have to be paid separately.

 

Program fee

Nominated students from your institution will not have to pay tuition fees as part of the exchange balance: Two students from your institution attending the Summer School will be counted as one EDHEC student attending one regular semester)

Tuition Fee:

4 weeks program (2 modules) is 2200 Euros.

2 weeks program (1 module, Lille or Nice) is 1400 Euros.
