Requirements: 

•    degree in management science or related field or a PhD degree (students of the last year of MSc program who graduate before 10/2012 can also apply),
•    academic interest in the field of management and organisation theory, 
•    strong motivation for scientific research,
•    very good command of English allowing the candidates to lecture in English.

RESEARCH-AND-TEACHING ASSISTANT on a Ph.D. track in International Management Department

to join the Faculty of International Management

Requirements:
• has their Master diploma finished recently, or will have it finished until the time of appointment,
• is highly motivated to pursue an academic career and write an outstanding Ph.D.,
• speaks fluent English (to the extent that s/he is able to teach and write academic papers in this language.

People with prior degrees in anthropology, sociology, management, psychology, international relations, as well as in other social sciences are particularly encouraged to apply. An ideal candidate should have a good command of qualitative methods (or quantitative methods, while having some basic understanding of the qualitative ones), be interested in sociology or anthropology of organization, or in management and organization studies. Fluency in Polish is considered to be an important asset, but is not a requirement.

The Ph.D. topic should be discussed with the research team. Chiming in with the current research interests of the team would definitely be advantageous. These include virtual communities studies (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, WoW, etc.), open collaboration communities (such as Wikipedia, FLOSS, etc.), knowledge-intensive organizations, organizational identity (including the topics of the social construction of gender), or professionalization of occupations and institutionalization of social roles.

We offer a possibility to work in a team of your researchers, with significant international exposure (gained through long-term research stays at e.g. Cornell University, Harvard University, University of California Berkeley, Stanford University, et al.), in a fairly a-hierarchical environment. The team’s achievements so far, including publications on the JCR list, as well as winning most of the awards available for your researchers in Poland, allow for academic development meeting the international standards.

The offered position requires beginning work in October 2012 or, in justified circumstances, from February 2013 onwards. The applications will be evaluated on 30 June 2012, 30 August 2012, 30 October 2012, and 30 December 2012, until suitable candidates are selected (2-3 positions will be offered).
